Starting The Year Off Right

How did you spend the first day of 2014? My husband and I spent it very leisurely around the house.  I started the morning with a lovely breakfast and made mimosas with the leftover champagne from our New Year's Eve toast.  A leisurely breakfast is something so special to the two of us as we don't get to eat breakfast together during the week and only take time on Sunday to indulge.

When my husband and I were first married, he was surprised to see that I like to mail order some special foods.  I order my bacon online, as well as my croissants.  He thought me weird I am sure, but now is happy that I try food from all over.  I was surprised to learn that he never had Irish bacon before we were married, but now it is his favorite.

We watched the Tournament of Roses Parade together (something I haven't done in decades!).  It is so amazing to see the beautiful floats that these talented people made using flowers and so many other natural materials.  As a crafter, the idea of gluing beans onto a form one at a time freaks me out!

My husband loves pigs in a blanket, so I made them for a snack.  With all these treats,  I made fish for dinner!

Later in the evening I was able to pack away a lot of my Christmas crafting mess that was on my desk after all the Christmas card making I did.  Finally, I was able to sit down and make something not holiday related.  A good friend asked me to make a princess card for his mom to give a neighbor girl who is a "princess in waiting."  Since Abbi is blonde, I decided it was fitting to make her a Cinderella card and used a stamp from my EK Success/Disney set.

This was really the perfect way to start the new year.  It is the most relaxed I have been in ages, and one of my New Year's goals is to keep this in mind and strive to relax more and take time to enjoy more.

Snow White Birthday Wishes

Hi, guys!  Here is something you may not know about me.  I LOVE all things Disney.  I love "The Mouse," all the princesses, Walt Disney World, etc.  If I could, I would visit WDW often.  For today, I made a card for a little girl who was turning 5.  I was asked to make it girly and so I thought immediately of my princess stamps by Disney.  For this card, I used a classic Snow White image. I decided a fun thing to do would be to stamp 5 butterflies as if they were released by Snow White.  Girls this age are learning their numbers and colors and I thought it would be fun for Keara.

Supplies:
Stamps: Disney
Paper: Papertrey Ink
Ink: Archival Black, Distress Ink
Misc.: Copic Markers, Circle Punches, Scalloped Rectangle Punch

After making this card, I had the Snow White theme going around in my head.  I am a lucky lady, as my prince has found me!

Have a great day!

Goddaughters Are Blessings

Hi, guys! I am blessed with two Goddaughters and one Godson. Today, I am going to share two birthday cards I made for my sweet Goddaughters this weekend.

This first card I made for Rory, who is 4.   She is very girlie and princess-like, so I used Cinderella as the focal image.  I used letter beads for her name, as they remind me of the baby bracelets from the past.

Supplies:
Stamps: Disney Stamps
Paper: Stampin' Up, Gingham
Misc.: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Circle Punches, Corner Rounder, Beads, Hero Arts Pearls, Martha Stewart Lace

The next card is for Grace who is turning 5. I came across this adorable image from Inky Impressions that reminded me of her. Pigtails and jeans are her style.  I love that she is holding a blackboard since Grace will be starting kindergarten next month and is very excited.

Supplies:
Stamps: Inky Impressions
Paper: Stampin' Up, Echo Park
Misc.: Copic Markers, White Prisma Pencil

I wish them both the best as they celebrate their special day.  It is truly a blessing to be their Godmother.

Have a great day!  I hope you find a few moments in your day to do something you love!
