You may have noticed that I have not been blogging or visiting for a while. After Christmas, I fell ill and was hospitalized for seven days. I spent New Year's in the hospital, ringing it in with my husband and toasting with plastic cups full of ice water, and it was rather depressing. Thankfully, my doctor is working on my medications and soon I will be like my old self. I will never take being home for granted again!
My blog relies on sharing my crafting with you, and since I haven't created anything lately, I haven't been able to share. I thought I would share the Christmas card I made for my husband. We both love fountain pens and I gave him two of them for Christmas. I decided to make a tree out of ink spots with nibs for a trunk. It was a lot of fun to make and he really enjoyed it.
Supplies:
Stamps: Hero Arts, Hampton Arts
Ink: Wendy Vecchi Ranger Inks
Paper: Gina K Designs
Misc.: Tim Holtz Idea-ology Mirrored Stars, Twine
Speaking of fountain pens, while I was sitting in the hospital, my husband brought his laptop so I could watch my favorite YouTube videos to cheer me up. I came across one on gratitude by SBRE Brown and after watching the video, I asked my husband to bring my fountain pens and paper the next day, and I spent the day writing thank you letters to various hospital staff who had been so helpful and kind while treating me. By taking the time to show my gratitude, I feel as if my recovery was made easier.
I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday season. Thank you all for all the fun and support this past year, and I look forward to sharing more of my cards and my inky fingers soon!!

Oh Winnie - I'm so sorry to hear of your illness. How scary for you. That's a long time to be in the hospital, but I'm hopeful that you are on the mend now and the doctors have things figured out. I'm so glad you are okay and back to blogging. I just thought you were taking time off from blogging over the holidays...which is something I do each year. Glad to hear from you!
Hi Winnie,
Sorry to hear you've been ill; hope you're on the mend now. Hope you can take care and go slow! Elizabeth
Bless your heart, my friend! I am so sorry to hear about you being ill over the holidays, but glad to hear you are recovering. The Christmas card you made for your husband is very creative and thoughtful too. I'm sure he loved it. Blessings!
Oh my Dear Winnie! I've been wondering and worried, but then I thought you must be doing more remodeling. I'm so sorry you were in the hospital....and for quite a while. I hope you are feeling better today, and get stronger as each day passes. Take care, and we'll keep in touch! Love & Hugs, Geri xo
Winnie, so very sorry to hear you have been ill and in the hospital. I'm glad your husband was by your side and that you had good care. The Christmas card is really lovely and imaginative -- I think I have a pen nib stamp and would never have thought to use it as a tree trunk!!!
So sorry to hear about you being sick!! Glad you are on the mend, sending you more healing vibes! I just got my first fountain pen and I love using it, I feel rather fancy when I write with it, lol
The card you made for your husband is really cute! I'm glad you were able to write those thank yous when you did. So often we think "I'll have to thank him/her for that" and then we don't follow through. I'm glad you were able to act on it!
Sorry you haven't felt well! Hope you are doing a whole lot better now!
Love your creativity in making that Christmas tree card!

What creativity! This is fabulous. So sorry that you had to be in the hospital for the New Year. I hope that you will recover quickly and the doctors will find the right meds for you.
